Recognising mobile populations as a high risk group for the spread of HIV and AIDS, HOME has launched in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank and the Health Promotion Board HIV & AIDS training workshops for migrant domestic workers in Singapore. HOME is in collaboration with our Helpdesk volunteers of the Lay Scalabrinian Missionary Movement (LSMM) to run such workshops for 2000 MDWs over a period of 2 years.

The press media has publicised the training the trainers’ workshop conducted by Standard Chartered Bank 'Living with HIV' programme for 30 MDWs and HOME staff. To date, some 100 MDWs have received training at the first workshop conducted at the auditorium of Health Promotion Board in July 2009.

These workshops would also be conducted by our cross border partner Scalabrinian Migran Scalabrini in the Philippines and Batam, Indonesia with migrant returnees. Among our joint campaign projects would include the distribution of information leaflets on HIV and AIDS.

Every year, HOME and TWC2 would invite MOM to conduct a briefing for our Helpdesk Volunteers on the frequently asked questions (FAQs) relating to the Domestic Worker work permit related conditions and regulations. Helpdesk Volunteers have found these sessions useful for the assistance they provide to callers and visitors to our Help Desk at Lucky Plaza #06-22.
