JOB OPENING: SHELTER MANAGER
HOME is seeking a Shelter Manager to oversee the operations of our shelter for female migrant workers in crises situations. The role is very varied and you will be managing all aspects of the day-to-day shelter operations under the following five areas:
Client Service Delivery:
Ensure well-being of residents of the shelter, which would include social, medical and financial assistance.
Conduct assessments and provide support to residents enabling them to develop self-sufficiency skills and provide appropriate linkage to support and community.
Work with shelter leaders and have regular meetings with them, to ensure all of the above.
Work with various volunteer groups, including medical, legal, English and employment team and have regular meetings with them, to ensure all of the above.
Set up Standard Operating Practices with regards to crises management and ensure all stakeholders are adequately trained to respond to crises.
Support shelter leaders in running the day to day operations of the shelter, including, ensuring basic standards of nutritious food, hygiene, safety and discipline.
Managing shelter’s petty cash.
Improving the management of day to day operations.
Compliance and Reporting Requirements:
Ensure that operations are undertaken and support provided according to and within the HOME’s mission, policy.
Prepare narrative and statistical reports.
Support the Executive Director in grant writing and fund utilisation reports, pertaining to the shelter.
Work with the Community Outreach Officer to liaise with community and business groups to co-organise events involving shelter residents.
Identify partners to ensure better support for shelter residents; as well as better standards of health and hygiene.
Running regular Volunteer Information Sessions for HOME.
Connecting interested volunteers to different departments of HOME.
Ensuring smooth placement of volunteers, signing of Volunteer Agreement Forms and being the secondary contact person, in case volunteers need support post placement.
Managing a database of volunteers and sending them regular updates on HOME’s activities.
Being the primary contact point for all volunteers placed with the shelter programme. Organising regular meetings and check ins with shelter volunteers.
Along with the Executive Director, identifying relevant trainings for shelter volunteers and organising the trainings.
Organising annual “Volunteer Thank You Parties” for all volunteers, across programmes.
A Degree in Social Work/ Social Sciences or relevant discipline.
At least 4-5 years’ experience of running complex operations for an NGO.
A true passion to work on human rights issues.
Excellent team player with the confidence to guide other team members or colleagues in his/her areas of domain expertise, balanced with the capacity to learn about HOME, its culture, its mission and its intended audiences
Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
